Supported* Custom Tours  2012

You are enthusiastically welcomed to discover “enlightened” cycle touring the easy and enjoyable way with Enlightened Bike Tours.  We are excited to host your wonderfully memorable custom bicycle tour as we bring together a small group of explorers with a lot in-common. We are >>>

>>>   “fun”,  responsible people who are starting down the road to become truly “empowered” transportation and touring cyclists

>>>   intelligent and active folks who enjoy great food and warm off-bike camaraderie

>>>  open-minded learners  who want to posses the keys to cycling everywhere – the ” empowered”  Cycling Savvy way.  We enjoy riding a mixture of New England’s most scenic rural roads, through historic villages,  and around lively “urban renaissance” down -towns.  We can, and do, go everywhere by bike – country roads and urban arterials – and we go safely and with panache. No parking problems for us! Compared with motor-tourists, we see much more with far less stress. june bike ride sunset

Custom off-bike options include kayaking, sailing, swimming, fishing, and hiking.

Daily cycling route options accommodate different types of riders, from  lower-mileage “wanderers” or uber-fit “hammerheads”.

Great vacations offer great choices: Full immersion in local history, scenery, cuisine, and the rhythms of local living are daily options, with plenty of opportunity to find quiet “temples of nature” and those indoor “cozy corners” too.  There is simply just too much to experience and visit in a short time –  from world-renowned museums, to local wineries and farms, to sandy beaches and promontories with lighthouses  – but don’t let that stop you from trying!

Bluff Point rideWe offer so much more, too! Our dynamic, engaging instructors and guides make all the difference, and give you the skills and confidence to become a confident go-anywhere cyclist. Ride everywhere – wherever you are, wherever you go!

The vacation begins with a unique program, Cycling Savvy, that produces successful, stress-free cyclists in an environment that imparts complete confidence.  It is so empowering and FUN that this just might be the best part of your vacation! Three (3) approx. 3-hour modules break-up the learning experience and allow for exploration, socializing, and relaxation too.  june seaport 1

Itinerary and Accommodations

We indulge ourselves right from the beginning, settling in to accommodations at a luxury private beach home(s) for our first few days while we meet and get comfortable and acquainted, and while we also accomplish our transformational Cycling Savvy course.  Between the individual Cycling Savvy modules there is plenty of time to enjoy fresh seafood and local harvest, ride through seaside villages and explore art, history, seascapes, shopping, beaches and other individual interests.

Depending on the interests of our guests and the time of the season, we use our insights and local knowledge to plan our travel along the Connecticut and Rhode Island coasts, visiting coastal sanctuaries, river towns, old farmlands, 19th century seaside colonies, and offshore islands. From Colonial times to present, this area is steeped in history and lore, and the scenery is varied and absorbing.

We end up in famous, historic, picturesque, bike-able Newport, RI, where cars are an encumbrance, and many smart locals use bicycles to commute and get around.

Contact us for further details and schedule, and come enjoy quiet roads and ideal cycling weather and scenery with us!
